Providing for our Present. Leading the Future. As we celebrate 70 years of Camphill Village Trust, we stand at a powerful intersection of heritage and an aspiration to shape a new future for social care. With deep respect for our history, we are proud to launch our bold new strategy - A Brilliant Future. At the heart of our vision are the people we support. Their voices shape our path forward, guiding us toward a future where everyone is seen, heard, and empowered. Every day, we witness extraordinary moments of growth, courage, and connection. We champion the individuality of each person and celebrate the qualities that make Camphill Village Trust a truly special place. In a world where 1.3 million people in the UK live with a learning disability—and too many go unheard—we are rising to meet a growing and urgent need. This is our moment to lead. To reimagine social care not as a system of limitation, but as a platform for independence, inclusion, and opportunity. Through learning, meaningful work, rich relationships, and vibrant communities, we believe everyone deserves the chance to live a healthy, fulfilling, and equal life. Introduction We will become a technologically enhanced and advanced organisation. We will be known for driving personalisation, championing co-production, and focusing on holistic wellbeing. Together, we will honour our legacy, meet today’s challenges, and build a future where every person can thrive. This is our strategy. This is our commitment. And together we will make it brilliant. A special thank you to Dr Rachel Bragg OBE for supporting us through our Theory of Change, helping to develop our impact quality framework and for continuing to provide us with guidance and support to unlock our collective potential. Our Vision Our Guiding Principles Safeguarding, Health & Safety A Brilliant Future Quality Support Live, Learn and Thrive Land Management and Sustainability Homes and Asset Potential Foundations Who we are Introduction A Leader of Green CareCamphill Village Trust is a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health problems in inclusive campus environments. Here individuals of varying needs and abilities can live independently while receiving the support necessary to live, learn and thrive. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy, we value individual contributions, enable personal pathways to development, and respect the rhythm of natural life through a deep connection to nature. Rooted in our social farming legacy, we empower people through farming, organic horticulture, and social enterprise centred on nature and traditional skills — an approach that sets us apart. By blending our core values with modern social care, we help people live independent, fulfilling lives. In a world increasingly aware of the link between nature and wellbeing, we champion Green Care as a scalable, impactful solution for social care, skills development, and community wellbeing. We are dedicated to creating a life of opportunity for those who live in or access one of our vibrant communities. We are passionate about the role we can play as leaders of the Green Care future in creating an inclusive society where everyone has equal chance to realise their hopes, dreams and ambitions. Our Vision Our Guiding Principles Safeguarding, Health & Safety A Brilliant Future Quality Support Live, Learn and Thrive Land Management and Sustainability Homes and Asset Potential Foundations Who we are Introduction A Leader of Green CareAlthough a connection to nature has proven benefits for health and wellbeing, access to nature is not equitable for those living with a learning disability. We’re here to change that – re-imagining an innovative, integrated, high-quality social care offer with the proven benefits of nature and the environment, resulting in A life of opportunity for people who access our services. Why we exist 1.3m people in the UK have a learning disability , 950,000 of whom are adults (ONS). There are 700,000 autistic people in the UK, meaning that it affects 2.8m including their families (National Autistic Society). Only 8% of adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems report feeling in control of their daily lives (Care Quality Commission) Structured nature activities can reduce anxiety by up to 52% for people with autism (University of Birmingham). Adults with learning disabilities are 2.5 times more likely to live in poverty than the general population (Joseph Rowntree Foundation). People with learning disabilities die on average 20 years younger than the general population (NHS England Learning Disabilities Mortality Review). 79% of autistic adults feel socially isolated (National Autistic Society). Approximately 18% of people with learning disabilities in the UK regularly access green spaces, compared to approximately 48% of the general population (Sensory Trust) Regular access to nature for adults with learning disabilities can improve communication skills by up to 46% and reduce challenging behaviours by approximately 30% (University of Essex). 6 • corporate strategy 2024-2027 Honouring the Past.
